Since March 26, 2020 Buehler Family Dental has practiced under Governor Wolf’s stay -at-home orders and the Department of Health guidelines to only provide emergent/urgent dental care in accordance with the American Dental Association’s recommendations. The Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) has assumed all authority to effectively regulate how all health care is practiced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As of May 8, 2020, Governor Wolf and the Pennsylvania Department of Health revised the guidelines on COVID-19 for Dental Health Care Personnel. The easing of the prior DOH restrictions, limiting dentistry in Pennsylvania to only emergent/urgent procedures, is a welcome step in restoring access to care and easing the burden on dental practices brought on by the pandemic. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us at Buehler Family Dental are looking forward to seeing patients on a more routine basis again.
As we welcome you back, we would like you to know that our commitment to quality dental care and the safety of our team and our patients remains our highest priority. Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations. Please expect to see some changes when it is time for your appointment. These changes have been made, and new protocols implemented, to help protect both our patients and our team.
-Our office will communicate with you a week before your appointment to ask some screening questions as well as confirm your scheduled appointment. You will be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.
-We have hand sanitizer that we will ask you to use before entering the reception area. You will also find several areas throughout the office where hand sanitizer is available for your use.
-In accordance with current Pennsylvania Department of Health protocols, you will be required to wear a face mask when entering the building. A team member will let you know when it is ok to remove your mask.
-Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. This may mean that you will be offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.
-We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you.
-To reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time, we would also encourage you to come to your appointment alone. We understand that this may not always be possible, but please be aware that to reduce the number of people in the office at any given time, we may ask those who accompany a patient to remain outside of the office until the appointment is complete.
-You will also notice some physical changes in the office aimed to help reduce aerosols and filter the air to prevent the spread of microbes.
-Due to the increase in personal protective equipment required to help keep our patients and team members safe during this pandemic, a $10.00 charge will be added to each visit.
